The water of the Grand Canal in Venice turned bright green

The water in the Grand Canal of Venice recently turned bright green.

Preliminary analysis of water samples indicates that a harmless dye has entered it. How the paint got into the canal is still unknown.

The city authorities held an emergency meeting with the police to investigate the origin of the liquid. According to one version, the paint could have been spilled by eco-activists: local gondoliers reported a group of Norwegians who threw briquettes with paint from the side of two boats. It is also assumed that the action could be a performance by some artist.

Samples of green water were collected by employees of the fire service and the regional environmental protection agency.
